Safety for Employees and Visitors at Lankhorst Recycling bv

For over 50 years, safety has been taken very seriously at Lankhorst Recycling.  Throughout this time, the company has had employees who were first aid certified, as well as a team of company firemen who have been trained by Lankhorst since their establishment in 1954.

The obligatory wearing of steel capped safety shoes within Lankhorst’s facility began 15 years ago. In addition to this, over the past few years Lankhorst has increased its efforts to promote safety by further emphasising the need to follow established safety rules. An example of this is the regular holding of Health and Safety meetings every two months, where the Health and Safety committee review any incidents, formulate HSE plans, review risk assessments and communicate evaluations.

Each member of the production staff on site is informed of Lankhorst’s safety policy. Employees are expected to put this policy into practice and to ensure that they make use of the correct safety attire such as safety glasses, safety shoes, work clothes, helmets, gloves, hearing protection, facemasks etc. when required in their day to day jobs.

Lankhorst’s Health and Safety Manager conducts a monthly safety inspection tour to check such things as fire extinguishers, safe paths, emergency lights, first aid lockers, product leaflets, fire doors, sanitary conditions, canteens, etc.  The inspection also includes an inventory and audit of production machinery and the general safety of the work environment.  A summary of each safety tour is produced and each month a meeting is held to evaluate the results and implement any actions.
